Putnam goes low to take OHL Classic lead

Playa del Carmen, Mexico (SportsNetwork.com) – Michael Putnam shot a
second-round, 7-under 64 on Friday and he has a 1-shot lead heading into the
weekend at the OHL Classic at Mayakoba.

There was a logjam atop the leaderboard after one round, but things started to
take shape a bit during the second day as Putnam finished 36 holes at 12-
under-par 130. Putnam has won three times on the Web.com Tour in his career,
but he is still seeking his first PGA tour victory.

Shawn Stefani and Jason Bohn shot matching 6-under 65s at El Camaleon Golf
Course and they are right behind Putnam in second place at 11-under 131. Ken
Duke carded the low round of the day with an 8-under 63, which vaulted him
into fourth place at 10-under 132.

First-round co-leader Will MacKenzie, who ended day one tied with five others,
fired a 68 in the second round and he is tied for fifth with Alex Cejka (67),
David Hearn (65) and Nicholas Thompson (65) at 9-under 133. MacKenzie is the
only first-round leader within three shots of Putnam.

Defending champion Harris English shot an even-par 71 on Friday and he is
eight shots back at 4-under 138.
