Golf Wagering : High Scoring at Texas Open 4/21

Golf wagering should be adjusted this week to the difficult course that the TPC Antonio prides itself on.  Good morning and welcome back to APEX Golf Betting.  Today, we examine the dynamic on how this difficult environment will have on our wagering.  What characteristics and stats should rise in your consideration starting on April 21st?  Let us get right down to it and project those winning wagers for you.

Golf Wagering : Check the Wind Reports

From reading our basic types of golf wagering section, we suspect that this field will be less elite than some of the more marquee events.  Part of this reason is that this course was so difficult last year.  While golfers like a challenge, the near 40mph gusts last year made the pros look mortal.  As a result, this field will be less star studded than most.  For our handicapping purposes, this is ideal as the better players will get a diluted field to dominate.  Also the scoring fluctuation will be lessened.  Wind is going to be mild and as a result, drastic mistakes should go down.

No One in Top Ten

Defending champion Jimmy Walker comes in ranked #26 in the world.  He has not won on the tour since this event last year.  What makes him high up on our radar is two items.  First is that Branden Grace is the highest in the world here coming in at #11.  Without the world beaters, Jimmy’s two key dimensions will shine here.

  • 10th in adjusted scoring
  • Excellent game inside 175 yards

Tough scoring courses where driving is not the dominant trait is his bread and butter.  To this end, Jimmy Walker (-120) heads up against Branden Grace (+100) first round should be your first investment of the night.  Grace has a bad reputation of being down after very good finishes the week prior.  The RBC champ is expected to be in down form on this tough course.

Off the Radar Profit

This man is not really being noticed by the linesmakers.  Do not make the same mistake on Charley Hoffman.  Stone cold steady in this environment.  Lowest finish here was a tie for 13th.  His momentum is coming back into shape with a 14th at the RBC.  This week sees him pitted against Bryson DeChambeau in heads up wagering.  Big advantage to us sports investors right here.  -130 on Hoffman (entire tournament) vs Bryson DeChambeau has a very high expectation to cash this weekend.
